Free First Sunday
On the first Sunday of the month, families enjoy free admission all day, with fun art making activities and entertainment for art lovers of all ages. Check out the dates below for specific programs on each Free First Sunday. Generous support provided by Art Bridges Foundation’s Access for All program.

No experience necessary. This is a wellness-focused program for teens and adults. A docent will be stationed in the Folk Art Gallery so you can learn more about the works and artists on view.
Enjoy light bites, art, and inspiration while celebrating the exhibitions Southern Gothic: Literary Intersections with Art from The Johnson Collection, The South’s Most Elusive Artist: Walter Inglis Anderson, and the Folk Art Gallery.
Make a sculpture inspired by the work of David Lee Butler, a self-taught artist whose cutouts and dynamic forms remind us that freedom is something we can shape with our own hands. Drop-in and create art during these programs. No experience necessary. This is a wellness-focused program for teens and adults. A docent will be stationed in the Folk Art Gallery so you can learn more about the works and artists on view.
Step into the galleries after dark for an evening of spooky storytelling inspired by the artworks on view. Let the artworks guide you as you dream up ghostly tales and eerie sketches inspired by what you see. Ages 16+ only.
Create a collage inspired by the work of Mose Tolliver, a self taught artist who developed a bold visual language. Drop-in and create art during these programs. No experience necessary. This is a wellness-focused program for teens and adults. A docent will be stationed in the Folk Art Gallery so you can learn more about the works and artists on view.

Tigers in the Galleries: Student-led Tour
Tigers in the Galleries is a student-led program that invites visitors to experience the museum through fresh perspectives. LSU students select artworks, conduct research, and design engaging, conversation-based gallery experiences for the public. Each session offers a unique look at the collection and exhibitions. Free and open to all; space is limited.
