Guided Group Tours and Field Trips
The LSU Museum of Art offers guided tours for schools, clubs, community organizations, and professional groups. Our interactive tours encourage close looking, critical thinking, and meaningful discussion for visitors of all ages. Reservations are required and must be submitted through the online booking form below. Phone reservations are not available.
Tour Information
Minimum group size: 10 participants
Tours available Tuesdays and Thursdays between 10 AM and 12 PM
Tour group will be divided into smaller groups of 5-12 visitors per gallery teacher depending on group size and staff capacity.
Tours are best suited for ages 8 and up
Chaperones are required for school groups: 1 adult per 10 students.
Guided Tour Only: 45 minutes
Guided Tour + Art Activity Package: 90 minutes (45-minute tour + 45-minute art activity).
Please note: the length of visit may need to be extended for groups larger than 25 participants

Public Schools (K-12):
Guided tour only: Free
Guided tour with art activity: $5/student
LSU Classes: Free for guided tours and art activities
All Other Non-Public School / Non-LSU Class Groups:
Guided tour: $3/visitor
Guided tour with art activity: $8/visitor

The South's Most Elusive Artist: Walter Inglis Anderson (on view September 17, 2026–January 3, 2027)
Through guided conversation and slow looking, visitors will engage with artwork and learn about Anderson's work.
Southern Gothic: Literary Intersections with Art from The Johnson Collection (on view October 1, 2026–January 3, 2027)
Through guided conversation and slow looking, visitors will engage with and learn about the artwork on view in the exhibition.
Seeing Like an Artist: The Building Blocks of Visual Art
This tour introduces the basic elements and principles of design, including line, shape, color, and composition. Using works from current exhibitions and the museum’s permanent collection, participants will build observation and critical thinking skills through guided group discussion.
Art and Creative Writing
Participants are guided through creative writing prompts in response to artwork on view to deepen their engagement with visual art through personal expression. Best suited for high school and adult groups.
Accessibility Statement
We welcome visitors of all abilities. Customized tours and accommodations for visitors with physical, sensory, cognitive, or mobility-related needs can be arranged with advance notice.
