From Simulation to Substance: Material Poetry in the Age of Intelligent Machines

Zoom Talk, Monday, December 1, 2025, 1:00 p.m. CST

Join Shawn Brixey for a lecture tracing a shift from virtual simulation to intelligent, responsive material, showing how emerging technologies in robotics, visualization, and material science transform artistic practice into a spatial and cosmological poetics. Through projects such as Alchymeia, Eon, Voltar, and the NEA-funded Magnaforma—which will premiere as an immersive installation at the LSU Museum of Art in fall 2026—he demonstrates how art, machines, and matter converge to form a new material language shaped by energy, code, and planetary imagination.

Presented by the LSU School of Art Lecture Series and the LSU Museum of Art.
