Guided Group Tours and Field Trips

The LSU Museum of Art offers guided tours for schools, clubs, community groups, and professional organizations. Tours are designed for all ages and support learning through close looking and conversation. 

Group Size & Availability 

  • Minimum group size: 10 participants 

  • Groups over 25 will be divided based on staff capacity 

  • Tours available Tuesday–Friday, 10 AM–12 PM

  • Guided Tours Only are 45 minutes

  • Guided Tours & Art Activity Package is 90 minutes (Tour is 30 minutes and Art Activities are 60 minutes)

  • All ages welcome

  • Fall Tours: September 18 – November 18, 2025

  • Spring Tours: January 15 – May 14, 2026 

  • Please schedule at least two weeks in advance. 

Tour Pricing 

East Baton Rouge Parish Public Schools (K-12): 

  • Guided tour: Free 

  • Guided tour with art activity: $5/student 

LSU Classes: Free for guided tours and art activities 

All Other Non-EBR School / LSU Class Groups: 

  • Guided tour: $3/visitor 

  • Guided tour with art activity: $8/visitor

A Bayou State of Mind: Art & Nature 
Explore how artists respond to Louisiana’s landscape, waterways, and natural environment. This tour, inspired by the A Bayou State of Mind exhibition, encourages close observation and discussion about the connection between art and place. Participants will reflect on their own relationship with the natural world through guided conversation. 

Sculpture Stories (Available starting October 14) 
This tour focuses on The Sculpture of Scott, Payton, Hayden, and Bechet exhibition. Participants will explore how these artists influenced each other and used abstraction, rhythm, and social commentary to shape Southern visual culture. 

Seeing Like an Artist: The Building Blocks of Visual Art 
This tour introduces the basic elements and principles of design, including line, shape, color, and composition. Using works from current exhibitions and the museum’s permanent collection, participants will build observation and critical thinking skills through guided group discussion. 

Art and Creative Writing 
Combine the visual and the verbal in a tour designed to spark the imagination. Participants respond to artworks through poetry, storytelling, or descriptive writing, deepening their engagement with visual art through personal expression. Best suited for ages 10+.  

Self-Guided Tour: Choose Your Own Adventure 
Best suited for ages 8 and up, this adaptable tour invites visitors to explore the museum at their own pace using activity prompts. Please contact LSUMOA Educator and Public Programs Manager Callie Smith at calliesmith@lsu.edu two weeks in advance to schedule self-guided tours, give staff time to print activity guides, and confirm calendar availability.  If you are visiting the museum for a self-guided group visit and your group exceeds 10 people, please let the museum know in advance the date and time of your arrival. General admission per individual for self-guided group visits (10 or more people).

We strive to ensure that all individuals can experience the Museum. Accommodations can be made for visitors in wheelchairs or with limited mobility. Tours tailored to visitors with physical or cognitive disabilities can also be arranged.
