Portraiture Style and Ornament at LSU Museum of Art

New Orleans-based contemporary artist Rashaad Newsome mined the LSU Museum of Art’s permanent collection to create the exhibition Portraiture: Style and Ornament, which featured seventeenth and eighteenth-century portraits from the LSU Museum of Art’s collection alongside Newsome’s provocative video works. Opening September 5, and guest curated by Laura Blereau, the exhibition marked the Louisiana debut of Newsome’s video series Swag: A Mix Tape, Volume 1.
